Reconciliation
Reconciliation also known as Penance or Confession, is the Sacrament of spiritual healing of a baptized person who has distanced themselves from God by committing sins. When a person has sinned after baptism, they cannot be re-baptized to free themselves of sin; therefore, they must seek penance to be forgiven of their sins.
This Sacrament involves four elements:
This Sacrament is provided to all people who have been baptized in the Catholic church. St. Paul Assyrian Chaldean Catholic Church offers this Sacrament every Sunday prior to the start of Mass, and at times, before Holy Communion is given during Mass hours.
Holy Eucharist
The Holy Eucharist, also known as the Blessed Sacrament, is the sacrament (the third of the Catholic Christian initiation, the one that the Catechism of the Catholic Church states, "Completes Catholic Christian initiation") by which Catholics partake of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ and participate in his one sacrifice.
In order to partake in this sacrament, one must complete Holy Communion courses. St. Paul Assyrian Chaldean Catholic Church offers classes every Sunday during Mass hours starting from September until the following year in May to any person from ages 8 and over who are baptized in the Catholic church.
With the guidance of our priest, our First Communion teacher, Patricia, and assistant, Lida, you or your children will be well-equipped and fully knowledgeable of their Catholic faith, and the pathway they are about to experience within their faith.
Holy Matrimony
Marriage, is a Sacrament seen as a sign of love uniting Christ and the Catholic church, established between the spouses as a permanent and exclusive bond, sealed by God.
Accordingly, this Sacrament is celebrated by our priest to those who are baptized in the Catholic church. However, if one of the two is a non-Catholic Christian, their marriage is licit only if the permission of the competent authority of the Catholic church is obtained. If one of the two is not a Christian (i.e., has not been baptized), the competent authority's dispensation is necessary for validity.
Prior to the celebration of this Sacrament, both members must meet with our priest on certain occasions for pre-martial counseling to fulfill the Catholic church's requirement.
The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is administered to a person of Catholic faith "who, has reached the age of reason, begins to be in danger due to illness or injury, and or old age". The anointing and prayer is administered by a priest as a sense of comfort, peace, courage and, if the sick person is unable to make a confession, all of their sins will be forgiven.
Our dedicated priest will provide his services of the last Sacrament, if needed, to any member of our church at any given hour and place.
